Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)
Summit Christian School has partnered with the Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN) to offer a new giving platform to benefit our students at NO COST TO YOURSELF! Essentially it's a redirecting of your tax dollars.
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
- Visit the OCEN SGO webiste.
- Click on the OCEN SGO tab on the top menu banner.
- Scroll down and click "Give Online".
- Select "Donor" and create an account.
- Choose "Donate Now" and fill out the form.
- PLEASE SELECT SUMMIT CHRISTIAN SCHOOL in the scroll down menu when filling out the form.
- Finish Submitting your donation.
MORE FUN FACTS:
- When you visit the SGO website to contribute. Be sure to select Summit Christian School in the drop-down menu so your contribution is designated for scholarships at Summit Christian School. OCEN will provide you with a gift receipt.
- For gifts up to $750, you will receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit to use during the current tax year. In other words, assuming that you have an equivalent Ohio tax liability, you will receive 100 percent of your contribution back when you file your taxes for the year. The students at Summit Christian receive the benefit of your gift at essentially no cost to you.
- Married couples can receive up to two separate $750 deductions, totaling $1,500. To receive the maximum credit, spouses must make two separate $750 donations, one in each of their names. A single $1,500 will only return a single $750 tax credit.
- The deadline to contribute for scholarships for the 2027-2028 school year is March 15, 2027. Donations received after March 15 will be for the 2028-2029 school year.
- OCEN SGO donations given prior to filing your taxes on April 15th can be claimed for the previous tax year.
